Arrest in Sarajevo for War Crimes Again

(Patria) - Police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) today arrested one person in the Sarajevo area on suspicion of committing the criminal offenses of "War Crimes against the Civilian Population" and "War Crimes against Prisoners of War" as prescribed by the Criminal Code.

The arrested person will be handed over to the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina for further jurisdiction after criminal processing at the premises of SIPA.

SIPA arrested the suspect Gegaj Mustafa, born in 1957 in Sarajevo.

The suspect is under investigation by the BiH Prosecutor's Office and is suspected of acting contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Conventions on the Protection of Civilian Persons and Prisoners of War during the war and armed conflict in BiH, in his capacity as a member of the Army of RBiH.

He is accused of crimes committed against victims of Serb nationality in the Sarajevo settlements of Hrasnica, Butmir, and Sokolović Kolonija, who were illegally detained in detention facilities in the Hrasnica area in 1992, thereby committing the criminal offenses of war crimes against the civilian population and war crimes against prisoners of war.

The suspect will be handed over to the acting prosecutor within the legal deadline, who will question the suspect and then decide on further activities in the case.
