Race held in Sarajevo and blue balloons released in support of people with autism

Today, World Autism Awareness Day was marked in Sarajevo by releasing 100 blue balloons into the air from Baščaršija and a peaceful walk. The action was organized by students, parents, and employees of the "Mjedenica" Institute, while a race was held in Velika aleja in support of autistic individuals, writes Patria.

The goal of the actions is to draw society's attention to the needs and abilities of children and adults on the autism spectrum and to express support for this population worldwide.

Informational material was distributed to citizens. The exact number of children and individuals belonging to the autism spectrum in Bosnia and Herzegovina is not known, but it is on the rise.

To highlight the importance of autism awareness, City Hall in Sarajevo, the waterfalls in Jajce, the Old Bridge in Mostar, and for the first time, Kastel Fortress in Banja Luka, will be illuminated with blue light tonight.
