Panel discussion 'A Fairer World is Possible' held in Sarajevo

(Patria) - A panel discussion on the topic "A Fairer World is Possible" was held in Sarajevo today, based on the book of the same name by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, which has also been published in Bosnian.

The panel, organized by the Directorate of Communications of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, is part of the "Stratcom Public Forum" project, which is being held in 20 world capitals.

Numerous guests attended the panel, contributing with their insights as diplomats, academics, bureaucrats, and representatives of independent and media organizations.



The panel began with a video message from the Head of the Directorate of Communications of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, Fahrettin Altun.

As part of the program, a round table was held with participants including lecturers from leading universities in the country, representatives of think tanks, and media organizations.

The participants of the panel discussion, mentored by Dr. Bengu Celenk, a lecturer at Ahi Evran University in Kırşehir, included Professor Dr. Šaćir Filandra from the Faculty of Political Sciences at the University of Sarajevo, Professor Dr. Ahmet Alibašić from the Faculty of Islamic Sciences, former diplomat Professor Dr. Enver Halilović, and Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Krupalija from the International University of Sarajevo.

In his presentation, Filandra stated that we are currently witnessing the resurgence of neocolonialism and political plunder through the irresponsible seizure of others' property by the powerful.



- In other words, we are witnessing the transformation of the world into a real estate market. For a long time, common international institutions have been contributing to such a materialistic and instrumental reduction of the world, only observing and witnessing but not preventing injustice in global crisis situations - added Filandra.

Professor Dr. Alibašić mentioned Turkey as a model of solidarity.

- While some countries like China and Russia focus on challenging Western dominance in international institutions, Erdoğan uses Turkey as a positive example of humanitarian policy, especially towards refugees. According to his claims, Turkey provides refuge to four million mostly Syrian refugees, while Western countries impose restrictions and close their borders - said Alibašić.

Mustafa Krupalija, a lecturer at the International University of Sarajevo, stated that we are going through a period of significant sociological transformations and emphasized that politicians need to fully grasp the dynamics of this period, where the old is dying, and the new cannot be fully born.



Professor Enver Halilović noted that through European ideological lenses, the Muslim vision of the state is necessarily Islamic-theocratic.

- However, Erdoğan's vision of a kind of world state, as presented in the book 'A Fairer World is Possible,' is a classically Western, republican, liberal-democratic vision of a state with a legislative body, the General Assembly, comprising all UN-recognized states, and its executive body, the UN Security Council, which would include 20 countries - concluded Halilović.

As part of the program, the photo exhibition "Century of Turkey" was opened, and a documentary film about the life and work of the Turkish painter Devrim Erbil was screened.
