Two-year-old child killed in traffic accident in Sarajevo, 34-year-old arrested

(Patria) - Sarajevo police announced in a bulletin the news of yesterday's traffic accident in which a two-year-old child tragically lost its life.

"On May 6, 2024, at 5:45 PM, on the roadway of the access road leading to the yard of a house in Bojnička Street, Ilidža municipality, a traffic accident occurred in which a pedestrian child was struck and knocked down by a passenger motor vehicle 'Mercedes', driven by A.H., born in 1990, from Sarajevo. In this traffic accident, due to sustained injuries, the child pedestrian (born 2022) died at the scene, with death confirmed by a doctor from the Emergency Medical Service of Sarajevo Canton.

The investigation was led by the duty prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton, conducted by members of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton, with the presence of permanent court experts in traffic and mechanical engineering.

On the same day, at 9:15 PM, due to reasonable suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of Serious criminal offenses against public traffic safety (Article 336, paragraph 4 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina), in connection with the criminal offense of Endangering public traffic (Article 332, paragraph 3 in connection with paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina), the 34-year-old driver A.H. was deprived of liberty and handed over to the Detention Facilities for Persons Deprived of Liberty of the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton," the Sarajevo police stated.
