Accomplice of Veselin Vlahović-Batko Arrested in Rogatica

By order of the prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, police officers of SIPA, in the area of Rogatica, arrested G.M., born in 1966, reports the Patria news agency.

The suspect is under investigation by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and is suspected of committing a war crime against victims of Bosniak ethnicity in the area of the Sarajevo neighborhood of Grbavica, which he committed as an accomplice of Veselin Vlahović, known as “Batko”.

Through a long and thorough investigation conducted by the acting prosecutor and operational work in the field, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH learned that the suspect G.M., who after the war resided in the area of the Rogatica municipality, participated in war crimes together with Veselin Vlahović, known as "Batko", who was finally sentenced to 42 years in prison.

G.M. is suspected of committing rape and sexual abuse of a woman of Bosniak ethnicity, thereby committing the criminal offense of War Crimes against the Civilian Population under Article 173 of the Criminal Code of BiH.

The suspect will be handed over to the acting prosecutor during the day, with accompanying security measures, who will examine the suspect and then make a decision on filing a motion for detention.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH continues intensive investigations with the aim of finding, discovering and prosecuting perpetrators of war crimes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the statement of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH says.
