The Riyaset of the Islamic Community in BiH, like in previous years, has once again organized a campaign for the payment and slaughter of sacrificial animals in BiH, and the collection of their hides, reports the Patria News Agency.
Simultaneously, together with the madrasas, the Riyaset has coordinated the campaign for the slaughter of sacrificial animals to ensure the necessary quantities of meat for the nutrition of madrasa students and faculty members. However, it is particularly important to emphasize that the Riyaset's campaign for the organized slaughter of sacrificial animals through the institutions of the Islamic Community is, year after year, taking on new forms that, among other things, serve to strengthen the return and survival of Muslims in their homelands.
Indeed, after a breakthrough in 2014 with the decision to purchase a portion of the sacrificial animals from Bosniak returnees, resulting in the purchase of 2,400 animals from returnee families, the Riyaset of the Islamic Community purchased a significantly larger number of sacrificial animals from returnees in 2015.
The sacrificial animals were purchased in Srebrenica, Žepa, Bratunac, Vlasenica, Zvornik, Višegrad, Foča, Gacko, Prnjavor, and other returnee areas. The meat from these animals will primarily be distributed to the returnee population.
- This year, the total number of sacrificial animals secured through the Riyaset is 6,872. That is 2,083 more animals than last year. This further speaks to the preparations made this year. The absolute majority of the sacrificial animals were procured in the smaller entity and towns of western Herzegovina. There is no medžlis (local Islamic community council) from the smaller entity that did not participate in the campaign, starting with Rudo with a modest 12 animals, said the campaign coordinator and head of the Department for Economic Affairs, Bilal Memišević.
The distribution process began on the first day of Eid al-Adha. Fresh sacrificial meat was delivered to returnees during the Eid days, while the remainder will be allocated to the madrasas. A portion of the meat will be processed for the madrasas and for distribution organized by the Office for Social Welfare, which includes distribution to soup kitchens, institutions, refugees, and other categories.
