Authorities of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton will install cameras in several border municipalities with Croatia, which will be used for early fire detection. This project is called "Holistic" and is funded by the European Union, which should improve firefighting efforts that represent a major problem in the region.
The cameras will be installed in Ravno, Neum and Čapljina by the end of September.
- The cameras will be placed at the highest points in these municipalities and will be able to detect small fires. When a fire is detected, our operations centre in Mostar is automatically contacted, after which a firefighting operation is organised - said the head of the Civil Protection and Firefighting Administration of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, Eugen Ćubela, reports Patria.
