In operation 'Paravan', SIPA arrested three individuals

(Patria) - Police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency last night in the areas of Mostar, Međugorje and Konjic, by order of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina and under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, carried out an operation codenamed "Paravan", during which they searched residential and auxiliary buildings and movable property at five locations.

Three individuals were deprived of liberty and taken to SIPA premises for criminal processing and questioning as suspects, after which they will be handed over to the competent prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina within the legal deadline.

During the search, approximately one kilogram of the narcotic drug cocaine, four automatic rifles, one 7.65 mm pistol with 20 rounds of pistol ammunition, 12 hand grenade launcher grenades, three electric detonator caps (EDK), one anti-personnel mine "MRUD" (anti-personnel fragmentation mine), 90 rounds of automatic rifle ammunition, cash in the amount of 44,000 Convertible Marks and 6,000 Euros, as well as other items that may serve as evidence in criminal proceedings, were discovered and temporarily seized.

The aforementioned activities were carried out due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that criminal offenses of "Organized Crime" in conjunction with criminal offenses of "Unauthorized Trafficking of Narcotic Drugs" and "Unauthorized Trafficking of Weapons and Military Equipment and Dual-Use Products" prescribed by the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina have been committed.

One of the suspects is a former high-ranking military official. The investigation relates to suspects for organized crime related to the smuggling of larger quantities of the narcotic drug "cocaine" from abroad into the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the smuggling and sale of automatic weapons and other weapons and ammunition intended for distribution on the illegal market in BiH.

During the implementation of the operation, approximately 1 kilogram of the narcotic drug "cocaine" was seized, as well as weapons, ammunition and explosives, the procurement, possession and trafficking of which is not permitted for citizens and individuals, as well as a certain amount of money and evidence that will be used in the proceedings.

The three suspects will be handed over to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH within the legal period, after which the acting prosecutor will question the suspects and make a decision on further actions in accordance with the law.
