Officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority temporarily seized a larger quantity of various goods worth BAM 92,500 in several separate operations, the ITA BiH announced, reports Patria.
Based on operational knowledge of goods smuggling from Serbia, officials of the Regional Center Tuzla, Group for Prevention of Smuggling and Offences, checked the origin of goods in the Brčko District area from a Serbian citizen.
During the checks, it was determined that foreign goods were also present in the facilities. These were goods originating from Serbia and Turkey, specifically 4673 pieces of various textile products (tracksuits, sweaters, t-shirts, etc.) without the legally prescribed documentation. The value of the temporarily seized goods is estimated at BAM 80,000, while the owner was fined BAM 4,000.
Officials of the regional centers Sarajevo and Tuzla, in cooperation with the Information Group from Tuzla, checked the movement of goods in 8 retail stores in the areas of Sarajevo, Tuzla, Živinice, Banovići, and Lukavac. During this, 40 mobile phones and tablets were discovered and seized for which there was no legally prescribed documentation. The value of the temporarily seized goods is estimated at BAM 10,000.
Through joint obligations and measures defined in the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Agreement on Mutual Cooperation between the ITA BiH and the BiH Border Police, the operational action "CONTRABAND III" was carried out. The goal of the action was to prevent and suppress the illegal import of goods into the customs territory of BiH. During activities at the Orašje border crossing, various technical goods were discovered in a passenger motor vehicle with Austrian license plates driven by a Croatian citizen. Since these were foreign goods that had not undergone the appropriate customs procedure, they were temporarily seized. The value of the temporarily seized goods is estimated at BAM 2,500.
The anti-smuggling team in the regional center Mostar, while carrying out regular activities to control the movement of goods, discovered and permanently seized 1241 kg of fresh tomatoes from an individual during the inspection of goods at the Trebinje Customs Post. The said goods were discovered and seized after a discrepancy was found between the load capacity of the truck and the total weight of the declared goods to the customs authorities, i.e., an excess weight was determined during the weighing of the truck.
Against the perpetrators of the described illegalities, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Customs Offences of BiH, requests for initiating misdemeanor proceedings will be filed with the competent court.
