At the Yellow Fortress in Sarajevo (Jekovac), on Sunday, June 5, 2016, starting at 8:00 PM, the opening ceremony of the 3rd Sarajevo Ramadan Festival will be held, writes Patria.
The ceremony will be marked by the firing of a cannon, which traditionally signals the time for Maghrib prayer and iftar in Sarajevo during the month of Ramadan.
During the month of Ramadan, the Sarajevo Ramadan Festival is held, aiming to present beautiful Ramadan customs and the richness of Islamic culture and art.
The central festival location is the Yellow (Jekovac) Fortress, from where a cannon is fired every evening at dusk (sunset) during Ramadan, marking the time for iftar – breaking the fast, which during Ramadan lasts from sunrise to sunset.
Also, as part of the Festival, concerts, exhibitions, lectures, and film screenings are organized at several other locations...
The Sarajevo Ramadan Festival was created by the Sarajevo Navigator Foundation and the Baščaršija Business Improvement Zone (ZUP) to complement the tourist offer of the Sarajevo destination.
