Islamist fighters attacked a barracks in the Tunisian city of Ben Guerdane near the Libyan border, killing 13 militants, and before the army regained control, five civilians and one soldier were killed, reports the Patria News Agency.
The Ministry of Interior warned citizens to stay in their homes while gunfire was heard in the center of the southern city during the early morning attack. The bodies of dead militants lie in the street near the barracks, witnesses said.
A military spokesman stated that soldiers killed 13 militants and arrested six. According to hospital sources, at least five civilians and one soldier were killed, writes Index.
