696 new coronavirus cases in Sarajevo Canton, refrain from travel and movement

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - After laboratory analysis of 1,776 samples, 696 new cases of coronavirus have been registered in Sarajevo Canton in the past day.

Of this number of new infections, 413 belong to family clusters or contacts with previously infected persons. Unfortunately, during yesterday, 16 patients infected with coronavirus passed away. 427 people recovered in the same period.

Currently, 451 people with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in Sarajevo Canton. There are 302 patients at the University Clinical Center Sarajevo, and 149 patients at the General Hospital "Prim. dr Abdulah Nakaš". 12 people are using ventilators.

Sarajevo Canton currently records 4,339 active cases of COVID-19 infection. According to data from the Public Health Institute of Sarajevo Canton, the average number of newly infected persons in the past seven days is 587.

Due to the worsening epidemiological situation, the Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton calls for maximum adherence to epidemiological measures. The recommendation for the population over 65 years of age and persons with chronic diseases is to limit their movement and use of public transport as much as possible. It is also recommended that citizens postpone or minimize travel within Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as abroad.
