Detainee arrested for child pornography commits suicide by hanging at Sarajevo prison

A detainee, S.D., committed suicide by hanging in the Sarajevo Remand Prison between Wednesday and Thursday night, reports the Patria agency.

S.D. was suspected of the criminal offense of exploitation of a child or minor for pornography, and was arrested by members of the FUP earlier this week. At the proposal of the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, the Municipal Court in Sarajevo ordered him a one-month detention.

During a search of the apartment where S.D. lived, police found 10,000 photos and video recordings of child pornography on his computer.

- The duty prosecutor supervised the investigation following the suicide, which was also attended by a forensic expert. Necessary orders have been issued to determine all circumstances of the event - Azra Bavčić, spokesperson for the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, told Patria.
