The US has announced it will dispatch a team of disaster experts to assist Ecuador, which was hit by a powerful earthquake on Saturday that killed at least 413 people, reports the Patria news agency.
"The government of Ecuador has accepted the United States' offer to assist rescue forces," said USAID officials, adding that experts will help the government assess damage and determine humanitarian needs, as well as analyze the situation on the ground.
Officials also said a small support team will also work with the UN coordination team that is helping Ecuador coordinate international rescue aid, reports Index.
