12 soldiers wounded, two seriously in Iranian attack on US air base in Saudi Arabia

(Patria) - Two US officials not authorized to speak publicly confirmed to the New York Times that 12 soldiers were wounded, two of them seriously, in an Iranian strike on the US Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.

The combined missile and drone attack represents one of the most serious breaches of US air defenses during the month-long war with Iran. At least two KC-135 aerial refueling aircraft were also significantly damaged in the attack.

The attack comes as US President Donald Trump wavers between announcements of peace and intensified strikes targeting key civilian infrastructure. Trump claims peace negotiations are underway and progressing well, which Iranian officials dispute, while additional warships and thousands of troops are being sent to the region to bolster US forces.
