
The number of employed persons in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina increased by 0.5% in January this year compared to the annual average for 2014, according to data from the Federal Institute for Statistics, as reported by the Bosnian news agency Patria.
The total number of employed persons in the Federation of BiH in January 2015 amounted to 445,788.
The largest number of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina work in the manufacturing industry, with 84,610 employees coming from this sector. In wholesale and retail trade, 79,496 are employed, followed by public administration and defense with 48,986 employees, then education with 41,281 employees, and health and social care activities with 31,094 workers.
The fewest employees come from the real estate sector, where just over 2,000 workers are registered. Bosnia and Herzegovina has 20,228 catering workers, at least those for whom employers regularly pay health and social insurance, and slightly more than that number are workers engaged in the transport of goods.
Agriculture is among the sectors with the smallest number of registered workers, with just over 7,500 people in BiH engaged in agriculture and thereby accruing regular pension contributions, writes Patria.
