32 killed, 90 injured in explosions in Syrian city of Homs

At least 32 people were killed and 90 injured in two explosions in the Syrian city of Homs, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced, reports the Patria News Agency.

The explosions, one a car bomb and the other by a suicide bomber, hit the Zahra district in the city center, the Observatory announced. This was the second major attack in the city after the ceasefire agreement came into effect, paving the way for the authorities to take over Homs, the last rebel-held area.

In two explosions that occurred in Zahra on December 12, at least 16 people were killed. ISIL militants claimed responsibility for that attack and said the explosion was caused by a car bomb.

As part of the ceasefire agreement in Homs, at least 700 rebels and their family members will leave the last rebel-controlled area in the city, in the Waer district. The implementation of the agreement is being monitored by the UN, writes Index.
