In two operations, tobacco worth 15,000 KM seized

Officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority in two separate operations seized tobacco worth 15,000 KM, announced by the UIO BiH, as reported by the Patria news agency.

Officers of the Group for Prevention of Smuggling and Misdemeanors from the Tuzla regional center, in cooperation with officers of the Ministry of Interior of Tuzla Canton, Kalesija Police Station, conducted a search of a passenger motor vehicle due to suspicion of illegal trade in excise products. On that occasion, 90 kg of finely cut tobacco was found and seized in the motor vehicle, with an estimated market value of 12,000 KM.

Based on collected operational information, UIO officers in the Tuzla Regional Center conducted a search of an improvised stand in Bosanski Šamac, where 22.8 kg of finely cut tobacco was discovered and seized, with an estimated market value of 3,000 KM, which was being sold without being marked with excise stamps.

Against the perpetrator of the described illegalities, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Customs Misdemeanors of BiH, a request for initiating misdemeanor proceedings will be submitted before the competent court, states the announcement of UIO BiH.
