Tobacco and textiles worth BAM 80,000 seized in two operations

Officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority prevented the illegal smuggling of a larger quantity of cut tobacco and textiles worth BAM 80,000 on two routes in two separate operations, reports Patria.

Based on operational work, officials of the Group for Prevention of Smuggling and Offences, Regional Centre Tuzla, noticed and stopped a passenger motor vehicle on the Orašje-Srebrenik road. During the inspection of the mentioned vehicle, they found 100 kg of cut tobacco that lacked accompanying documentation and was intended for sale on the black market.

Officials of the Group for Prevention of Smuggling and Offences, RC Tuzla, based on previous operational knowledge about smuggling goods (textiles) from the Republic of Serbia, carried out the operational action "PRESRETAČ" (INTERCEPTOR). By carrying out operational-tactical measures and actions, two vehicles were located on the Bijeljina-Brčko District road. After inspecting the passenger motor vehicles, a larger quantity of smuggled goods was found. It consisted of 2,082 pieces of various goods (tracksuits and t-shirts) of the Nike, Adidas, Emporio Armani, and Bogner brands. During the mentioned operational-tactical actions, previous training and equipment acquired and donated through the EXBS program played a significant role.

The total value of the temporarily seized goods is BAM 80,000, and a request for initiating misdemeanor proceedings will be filed against the perpetrators of the described illegalities before the competent court, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Customs Misdemeanors of BiH.
