The third, and so far largest, aid convoy by the local humanitarian NGO MFS-EMMAUS, consisting of 16 trucks, will depart for Syria on Thursday, March 30, from Doboj Istok at 11:00 AM from in front of the company Vegafruit d.o.o., in whose warehouse the humanitarian aid is located. The donation consists of 340 tons of flour, 22,000 liters of oil, and 8 pallets of baby diapers. Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, mainly from the area of the Mufti's Office of Tuzla, participated in collecting this aid convoy, and the Mufti's Office also participated in its organization, reports Patria.
The convoy, named 'BiH for Syria', will travel to the Turkish-Syrian border, from where the aid will be distributed to the people in Syria and in refugee camps. As on the previous occasion, the convoy will be accompanied by several employees, volunteers, the director of MFS-EMMAUS, Hamzalija Okanović, and several representatives of the Mufti's Office of Tuzla.
- We are positively surprised by the extremely large response from the population of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and we are glad that we have successfully continued this humanitarian action. After sending a convoy of 5 trucks in February, we did not expect the number to increase to as many as 16 trucks. We know that with this donation we have not solved the daily problems of Syrian refugees, but we have managed to ensure they have at least a guaranteed meal for the next few months - stated director Okanović.
