Interior ministers of the European Union at today's meeting in Brussels, which was first to leave was Croatian minister Ranko Ostojić, accepted the plan for relocating 120,000 refugees currently in Greece, Italy and Hungary, reports the Patria News Agency.
The plan involves imposing mandatory quotas, according to which each EU member state will have to accept a certain number of refugees. Four member states voted against the agreed plan, according to the BBC: Romania, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
Finland is the only member state whose representative abstained from voting. Poland, which initially opposed the quotas, ultimately voted for this plan.
It has been determined that the quotas, which involve accommodating 120,000 refugees, will be implemented over the next two years. The plan needs to be ratified by EU leaders at tomorrow's summit, writes Index.
