Remains of Bosniak victims killed in 1992 exhumed in Bratunac

(Patria) - An expert associate from the Special Department for War Crimes, by order of the acting prosecutor and with an order from the Court of BiH, coordinated the exhumation process at the Greblo cemetery - Konjević Polje in the municipality of Bratunac.

At the mentioned location, remains were exhumed from 4 unmarked graves, in order to take samples for the identification of persons through DNA analysis.

Remains were found in three graves, from which bone samples were taken, and the identity of the persons to whom they belong will be determined in a further process.

According to available information, these are most likely the bodies of victims of Bosniak nationality, who died as a result of shelling in the autumn of 1992.

The exhumation process involved a forensic pathologist, representatives of the Institute for Missing Persons (INO) of BiH, expert staff from the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), representatives of the Tuzla Memorial Center, as well as police officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of RS, Zvornik Police Department and Bratunac Police Station, who secured the location and provided forensic technical support.
