16 Bosniaks killed near the site where remains were found in Doboj in 1992

It is still premature to talk about the number of bodies whose remains were found near Doboj. What we know is that in the immediate vicinity of this location in 1992, 16 Bosniaks were liquidated in the Jablanica settlement, and over the past twenty years it has been shown that the bodies ended up in the Bosna River, said Amor Mašović, director of the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

He said that four of the 16 killed Bosniaks' bodies were found in Sremska Mitrovica, most likely carried there by the Bosna River into the Sava, and then the Sava into Sremska Mitrovica. He also said that based on information from the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), the Institute processed this site in April and requested from the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina that an exhumation be carried out.

- This situation with the flood has now uncovered bones, and it shows that we had credible information. There was a landfill at that site, probably part of the bank collapsed, and the bodies appeared. Now we are waiting to go to the field - Mašović told NAP.

He pointed out that there is a possibility that the body found after the floods in the Bare settlement, which was sent to Banja Luka, is one of the killed Bosniaks.

- We are missing 12 bodies, but at this moment we cannot speculate on the number of found bodies - says Mašović.
