On behalf of the European Commission, the Delegation of the European Union to BiH and the Office of the EU Special Representative issued a statement regarding the meeting held on March 26 and 27, 2015. The Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed, the body responsible for food safety, positively assessed the data submitted from Bosnia and Herzegovina and gave the green light to the European Commission to prepare a Regulation declaring that there is no ring rot of potatoes in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Once the Regulation is adopted, the export of potatoes from Bosnia and Herzegovina to the European Union will be enabled, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.
- The potato production sector is an example where BiH has shown that it has effective control and supervision systems, as well as functional coordination, where staff in various institutions and authorities work as one team. This is a positive example that should be followed in other areas, such as preparations for the export of dairy products - the statement reads.
