A spy for the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), close to radical Sheikh Omar Abdel-Rahman, was killed during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, reported the U.S. network NBC, according to Bosnia and Herzegovina's news agency Patria (NAP). The man recruited by the FBI as a mole within the ranks of the radical terrorist network controlled by the blind Sheikh, who remains in prison to this day, was reportedly an important source of intelligence for years.
Later, as NBC reports, he was also recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). He was the driver of Sheikh Abdel-Rahman and had his first contacts with U.S. investigative authorities in Los Angeles in the early 1990s. However, as stated, at the beginning of the war he arrived in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he was killed by Al-Qaeda operatives who discovered he was working for the CIA. Details of this murder have not been released. The spy reportedly also met with Osama bin Laden in Sudan.
Details of this case emerged during proceedings in which FBI agent Youssef Bassem, who found and recruited this "mole," sued the FBI for discrimination, claiming he was not promoted despite his successes.
