
(Patria) - Authorised officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority of Bosnia and Herzegovina (UIO BiH) in the area of Banja Luka conducted an operational activity aimed at preventing illegalities related to tobacco and tobacco products.
During the operation, they found a larger quantity of cut tobacco, hand-rolled cigarettes, and cigarettes of various brands without excise stamps and documentation of origin at an individual, which were temporarily seized by officers of the Department for Enforcement of Regulations of the Regional Centre Banja Luka.
This involves approximately 750 kg of cut tobacco and approximately 27,500 packs of cigarettes, with the total market value of the temporarily seized goods estimated at around 311,750 BAM.
Legally prescribed measures and actions will be taken against the individual in possession of the aforementioned illegally traded tobacco and tobacco products, in accordance with applicable regulations.
The actions of officers in the territory of the Regional Centre Banja Luka are part of the operational action "Market 2", which UIO BiH has been conducting since the beginning of 2025 across the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The goal of the operational action is to detect, sanction, and prevent criminal activities within the competence of UIO, primarily those related to preventing the illegal trade of tobacco and tobacco products.
The Indirect Taxation Authority of Bosnia and Herzegovina calls on all citizens to report any form of illegal trade, tax or customs evasion via the open line at 080 02 06 07. All calls are free and completely anonymous.
