Man from Tuzla arrested in Montenegro for attempted murder of a police officer

The Kotor police on Thursday, acting on the order of the Deputy Higher State Prosecutor in Podgorica, arrested A.H. (22) from Tuzla, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on suspicion of attempting to kill police officer V.Ć, reports Podgorica's Vijesti, as carried by the Bosnian news agency Patria.

- It is suspected that A.H. committed the criminal offense on August 6, 2015, around 6:50 PM, in the locality of Trsteno. The suspect A.H. was then driving a black "BMW" vehicle with Bosnian license plates along a local road from the direction of Ploče beach towards Jaz. Kotor police officers V.Ć. and S.G. were conducting traffic safety checks in Trsteno, when V.Ć. gave A.H. a clear "stop" sign with a board to stop the vehicle at a widening by the road.

A.H., as suspected, without stopping, suddenly increased speed and continued moving towards V.Ć. At that moment, the police officer, in order to avoid being hit by the vehicle, threw himself to the side, into a drainage ditch by the road, while A.H., speeding, fled towards Jaz - the Police Directorate stated in a press release.

It is added that the Kotor and Budva police immediately launched a search, and then a pursuit for A.H., who was soon found.

- A.H. was brought to the Kotor police premises. The Deputy Basic State Prosecutor in Kotor was informed of the event, followed by the Deputy Higher State Prosecutor (ZVDT) in Podgorica, who ordered A.H.'s arrest and qualified the act as the criminal offense of attempted murder. The suspect was today, along with a criminal complaint, brought before the ZVDT in Podgorica on the order of the prosecution. Police officer V.Ć. sustained minor bodily injuries in the incident - the press release states.
