Prosecutor Tadić: Mektić will be summoned to the Prosecutor's Office over statements about the institution's inactivity

Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina Gordana Tadić said today that Bosnia and Herzegovina is not a broken state, and that the state Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Mektić will have to explain his today's statements about the inactivity of this institution at the Prosecutor's Office.

Tadić said at an extraordinary press conference that the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has good results, the work of this institution has been stabilized, and that such is the situation in the entire judiciary.

The Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Mektić accused the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina today of not doing its job, that corruption has seeped into all pores of this institution, and assessed that it would be best to tear down the entire Prosecutor's Office.

"The pressures exerted on the work of our Prosecutor's Office are inappropriate. I will inform the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council, the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and international organizations about this... This is about undermining the order of Bosnia and Herzegovina. I ask the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to remain calm and patient. This does not concern citizens. They exercise their rights at local instances," said Tadić.

The prosecutor could not speak about specific cases, such as why the investigation was suspended in the case of holding an unconstitutional referendum in the Bosnian entity of Republika Srpska, or how far the case of the former director of the Indirect Taxation Authority Kemal Čaušević, who is charged with multi-million euro embezzlement and abuse of official position, has progressed, NAP writes.
