Prosecutor Husejnagić: Inspector Marković was on duty when he was killed in front of a catering facility in Bijeljina

(Patria) - Sabina Husejnagić, District Public Prosecutor at the Bijeljina Prosecutor's Office and a member of the investigative team looking into the murder of Nenad Marković (38), a police inspector from this city, stated that the inspector was on duty at the time.

She recalled that the shooting occurred on the night between October 1 and 2, in front of the JIL catering facility, resulting in the death of this police officer.

"At the time he arrived at the catering facility, he was performing his regular duties and tasks, he returned from an on-site investigation, all of which is recorded in the Duty Log with the duty prosecutor. My colleague, prosecutor Jasmina Mrakanović, was the duty prosecutor at that time," Husejnagić said.

She added that after the murder, searches were carried out at three locations in Bijeljina.

"Two vehicles were searched, including the one located in front of the JIL catering facility, which the suspects used when arriving at the scene," Husejnagić stated, adding that the second vehicle also belongs to one of the suspects.

She added that apartments at two locations in the Brčko area were also searched, and an autopsy of the murdered inspector's body was performed this morning.

"In addition, the prosecutor's office is interviewing all witnesses and all persons who have indirect or direct knowledge related to what happened," Husejnagić stated in her address to representatives of the Bijeljina Prosecutor's Office.

She stated that she assumes the Prosecutor's Office will decide to propose detention for the suspects, whom the prosecutor has not yet questioned. She added that a decision on this will be made in the afternoon.

"All items related to this case have been found. On-site investigations were conducted at three locations in the Bijeljina area. We have also managed to find the item suspected of being used in the commission of the criminal offense," the prosecutor stated.
