Five suspects handed over to the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office after criminal investigation

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – After a criminal investigation by the State Investigation and Protection Agency, five suspects who were deprived of their liberty in the operation „Kasa“, including owners of well-known catering establishments in Sarajevo, have been handed over to the jurisdiction of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office. Among those arrested are the owner of the Vatra and Metropolis cafe chain, Šaćir Čedić, and Nedžad Rašidagić. 

"So far, five suspects have been handed over to the jurisdiction of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, and after the prosecutor in charge questions them, a decision will be made on further measures," Azra Bavčić told Patria.

As Patria learns, two suspects were not found at their residential addresses and are outside BiH. They are the owners of two well-known Sarajevo restaurants.

Seven individuals are still undergoing criminal investigation.

As previously announced by the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, the persons deprived of their liberty are charged with criminal offenses of tax evasion, abuse of position or authority, and computer forgery. 

„Among the persons deprived of their liberty are mainly owners of Sarajevo catering establishments and responsible persons of companies that serviced fiscal cash registers,“ it was stated.

Thirty locations in Sarajevo were searched, and the suspects are charged with failing to report actual turnover through fiscal cash registers, specifically they reduced the turnover and based on that made false tax returns and paid less tax than required. The searched premises include Montane, restaurants Kod Kibeta, Luka, and Una.

Unofficially, the state has been damaged in the amount of several million through this method.
