Prosecution seeks life sentence for Karadžić

The presentation of the Prosecution's closing arguments at the trial of Radovan Karadžić before the International Tribunal in The Hague concluded today. Tomorrow, at 9 AM, the defence will begin presenting its closing arguments. Radovan Karadžić will defend himself, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

On the second day, prosecutors Alan Tieger and Katrina Gustavson presented evidence, and a life sentence was requested for Karadžić. The closing arguments began with the accusation of Karadžić for terrorizing Sarajevo.

- Justice for all victims demands nothing less than a life sentence. With this, our arguments are concluded - said Tieger, who during the presentation stated that the most horrific thing was the forced separation of women and children from men.

- Karadžić chose the Bosnian population of Srebrenica for extermination. They were killed solely based on their identity. The lives of women and children, who were separated, were destroyed - said Tieger, while Katrina Gustavston stated that there were organized killings on the Jadar river.

Karadžić will have two days to present his defence, and the entire proceedings are expected to conclude on Thursday, with the verdict anticipated in mid-next year.
