Prosecutor's Office of Tuzla Canton proposes one-month detention for professor Stanković due to sexual abuse of minors

(Patria) - The acting prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Tuzla Canton has submitted a proposal to the Municipal Court in Tuzla for the imposition of a one-month detention measure against guitar professor Predrag Stanković (75) from Tuzla due to reasonable suspicion that he committed the extended criminal offense of lewd acts related to sexual intercourse by abuse of position and the extended criminal offense of sexual intercourse by abuse of position.

Given that, for now, two male victims were minors at the time of the commission of the reported criminal offenses from an earlier period, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Protection and Treatment of Children and Minors in Criminal Proceedings of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, we are unable to provide any details regarding the reported acts or the injured parties. In this specific case, it concerns a person suspected of criminal offenses against sexual freedom and morality in a manner that he used his position as a professor and the relationship of subordination and dependence of the minor victims.

The Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Interior of Tuzla Canton acted in this case based on a report received at the end of November 2024.

By order of the acting prosecutor and by warrant of the municipal courts in Tuzla and Lukavac, members of the Criminal Police Sector of the Ministry of Interior of Tuzla Canton conducted searches at an apartment and a weekend house at two locations in Tuzla and Lukavac, after which the suspect was deprived of liberty. During the search, certain computer equipment and a mobile phone, as well as other items that will be examined, were seized from the suspect.

Investigators from the Department for Sexual Delicts, Juvenile Delinquency and Domestic Violence of the Criminal Police Sector of the Ministry of Interior of Tuzla Canton conducted a criminal investigation, after which the suspect was handed over to the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor's Office along with a report on the committed criminal offense.

The acting prosecutor issued an order to conduct an investigation and examined the suspect.

The investigation in this case is ongoing and will continue in the coming period to determine whether there were any other victims of these criminal offenses in the past period.
