Prosecutor's Office of KS: No elements of criminal offense in the case of Mahir Rakovac's suicide

In the case of the suicide of 14-year-old Mahir Rakovac, the Prosecutor's Office of KS did not establish any facts indicating a criminal offense, nor that anything during the investigation was causally linked to the suicide, said Chief Prosecutor of the KS Prosecutor's Office Dalida Burzić, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

- M.R. was not raped, nor were any traces of physical violence found, except for injuries sustained from the fall - Burzić said.

For two months, specifically since January 6, two prosecutors from this Office worked on the investigation and collection of all evidence, testimonies, and information that would help shed light on this case.

As Prosecutor Burzić stated, the legal profession could not provide an answer as to why the boy Mahir Rakovac committed suicide; psychologists, educators, and parents of children should answer that.

Prosecutor Burzić said that during the two months, 120 witnesses were interviewed, stepfather Dubravko Lovrenović four times, and mother Alisa Mahmutović three times. Teachers from the International School in Ilidža, Primary School "Aleksa Šantić", residents and neighbors from Branislava Nušića street up to number 166, 7th and 8th-grade students from the International School in Ilidža, all parents of children connected to this case, journalists from Dnevni avaz who attended a parent-teacher meeting at the school in Ilidža, relatives and close friends, teachers from the school in Tuzla, Mahir Rakovac's father Muhamed Rakovac... were also heard.

All allegations made by the boy, who told his stepfather Dubravko Lovrenović what happened at school, and based on which Lovrenović contacted the KS Prosecutor's Office, were investigated. Burzić also stated that no injuries indicating sexual violence were found on the other boy.

Medical examinations of both boys, psychological examinations, an autopsy were performed, photo documentation, phone records, surveillance footage, Facebook communication... were collected.

Prosecutor Burzić stated that it was determined that Mahir Rakovac's mobile phone was last used five days before his death, on December 9, 2015.

A total of 7,795 video recordings from 32 cameras at the International School in Ilidža were reviewed, but there was no evidence pointing to peer bullying.
