Prosecution seeks maximum sentence for Sefić

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The trial of Sanjin Sefić and others continued today at the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo, with the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecution, the father of the deceased Selma Agić, Amir Agić, the sister of the deceased Edita Malkoč, Enesa Kekić, and the lawyer for the Agić and Malkoč families, Adela Duraković, presenting their closing arguments.

On August 22, the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecution was not ready to present its closing arguments. Today, they requested the maximum prison sentence for Sefić for two criminal offenses - causing general danger and endangering public safety, and failure to provide assistance after a traffic accident.

It was emphasized that Sefić is a repeat offender, and that in 2015 he was sentenced to prison for assaulting an official. It was also stated that the other defendants, Sara Sefić, Dino Agić, and Saud Nišić, are also repeat offenders in committing acts contrary to the law.

Amir Agić stated in his address to the Court that he seeks Sefić to be punished in accordance with the law. He had previously stated that 20 years would be too little for what he had done.

The defense of the accused will present their closing arguments on September 12, after which a verdict is expected very soon.

We remind you that Sanjin Sefić is suspected of having killed Selma Agić and Edita Malkoč, students of the Faculty of Philosophy in Sarajevo, on October 10 in Zmaja od Bosne street in Sarajevo, driving at high speed. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, he is a multiple offender for traffic violations and public order and peace offenses.

On the morning of October 11, Sefić crossed the state border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, and was arrested on October 12 in Novi Sad. He was extradited to Bosnia and Herzegovina on January 9, 2017.
