KS Prosecutor's Office requests information from FBiH Government on FUP Director appointment procedure

The FBiH Government will address the request from the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton, number: T09 0 KTPO 0078366 14, for information regarding the procedure for appointing the Director of the Federal Police Administration (FUP) at today's session, along with a proposal for a statement, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

On November 20 last year, the KS Prosecutor's Office received a criminal complaint from Svevlad Hoffmann against Sead Selman and others for alleged abuse of official authority during the election procedure for the FUP Director.

- The Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton has intensified pre-investigation activities in this specific case to determine any potential criminal offenses. Upon completion of these activities, the Prosecutor's Office will decide on further actions and measures within its jurisdiction, all with the aim of reaching a final prosecutorial decision, about which the public will be informed in a timely manner – says Alem Hamzić, spokesperson for the KS Prosecutor's Office.

We remind you that the FBiH Government has already appointed Dragan Lukač to head the FUP twice, even though the Independent Board requested it. However, according to the FBiH Government's assessment, the competition procedure should have been repeated because the new Law on Internal Affairs came into effect. The Office of the Government for Legislation and European Union Standards Compliance gave the same opinion.

Lukač filed a lawsuit against the FBiH Government and also requested a temporary injunction, meaning he should perform the function of FUP Director until the proceedings are concluded.

The Municipal Court in Sarajevo reportedly issued a decision in Lukač's favor yesterday.
