Cantonal Prosecutor's Office expects the Cantonal Ministry of Interior to also disclose the circumstances under which Klix was searched

Following the press release of the Office of the Chief Cantonal Prosecutor of the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office dated December 30, 2014, I inform the public that I, as the Chief Cantonal Prosecutor (Dalida Burzić), have taken steps to determine the circumstances and manner in which the request of this Prosecutor's Office to the Municipal Court in Sarajevo for issuing a search warrant for the Klix.ba newsroom was submitted, reports the Patria news agency.

On that occasion, I noted the following:

- On December 16, 2014, the then Chief Cantonal Prosecutor, who, pursuant to Article 6 of the Law on the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton, represents and leads the Prosecutor's Office, upon receiving a request from the Special Prosecutor's Office of Banja Luka, decided to open a case and assign it to a prosecutor from the General Crime Department,
- On December 23, 2014, the presiding prosecutor sent a request to the Municipal Court in Sarajevo for issuing a search warrant, in accordance with the Law on Legal Assistance and Official Cooperation in Criminal Matters between the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republika Srpska, and the Brčko District of BiH, in the manner requested by the request for official cooperation,
On December 24, 2014, considering the request of this Prosecutor's Office justified, the Municipal Court in Sarajevo issued a search warrant by the pre-trial judge; the said warrant was issued to the Cantonal Ministry of Interior (MUP KS) and it stipulated that the search actions would be carried out by authorized officials of the Cantonal Ministry of Interior, with the presence of authorized officials of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Interior of the Republika Srpska (MUP RS).

- Given the aforementioned situation, the Chief Cantonal Prosecutor assigned the presiding prosecutor to examine the manner and circumstances under which the search action was carried out, considering media reports that the search action was carried out by the Ministry of Interior of the Republika Srpska. Furthermore, this Prosecutor's Office expects that the Cantonal Ministry of Interior will also inform the public about the circumstances and manner in which the search of the Klix.ba newsroom was carried out - the statement from the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office says.
