Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton on the murder of Adnan Salčin: Investigation still ongoing

The Coordination of Veterans' Associations of the Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipality has sent an initiative to the Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton and relevant institutions to shed light on the murder of Adnan Salčin, the son of war hero Ramiz Salčin, which occurred on March 2, 2015, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

- We demand that the competent Prosecutor's Office inform us and the public about the progress of the investigation in the mentioned case, given that the murder happened 17 months ago, and since then the public has been deprived of more information about the said event - states the open letter.

We recall, the murder of Salčin occurred at the intersection of X transferzala and Herman Gmeiner streets around 4 p.m. He stopped his car, a Lancia with Italian license plates, before the pedestrian crossing, and another car stopped parallel to his. The assassin fired two bullets at him, and he died at the scene from his injuries.

The investigation was then conducted by members of the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton and a prosecutor from the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton. However, very quickly the investigation was taken over by the Federal Police Administration, and then by the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA). Just a month after the murder, the Federal Police Administration had operational data on a possible perpetrator or co-perpetrator who is a citizen of Serbia and is located in that country. To this day, that person has not been prosecuted, although the official note of the Federal Police Administration was submitted to SIPA.

From the Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton for the Patria agency, they said that the investigation is ongoing and that they cannot provide more information.

- SIPA is working under the supervision and by order of the Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton.

According to the claims of witnesses who were questioned at SIPA, there were four people in the car that the assassin stopped next to Salčin's.
