Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton on Commissioner Selimović's Statement: In the interest of the investigation, refrain from disclosing information

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Commissioner of the Sarajevo Police Nusret Selimović told the media today that, as far as the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton is concerned, the case of the murder of two police officers Adis Šehović and Davor Vujinović in October 2018 has been solved, and he emphasized that on November 5, the Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton submitted a supplement to the report against several persons who are reasonably suspected of being connected to the murder of the police officers.

The Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton did not react immediately but issued a statement to the public this evening.

"We remind the public that the Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton is conducting an investigation in the case of the murder of Sarajevo police officers and that police agencies, including the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton, are obliged to take actions within their authority and under the supervision of prosecutors. Solving a criminal offense from, as stated, a police aspect and informing the public about it does not simultaneously mean that sufficient evidence has been collected in the case in question to make a prosecutorial decision.

In the interest of the investigation, it is necessary for everyone to refrain from disclosing information about the case, as this could directly jeopardize the interests of the investigation into a serious criminal offense. The Prosecutor's Office will continue to intensively carry out actions in this complex investigation, and the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton is expected to act promptly and efficiently in accordance with the law, following the requests and orders of the Prosecutor's Office," the statement said.
