KS Prosecutor's Office Investigates Prača Shelter

The Prača shelter, which was allegedly supposed to be a solution for the excessive number of stray dogs on the streets of the BiH capital, is the subject of an investigation by the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton, it has been confirmed to the BiH news agency Patria.

- The Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton has collected relevant documentation regarding checks of potential irregularities in the spending of funds for the care of abandoned dogs. It is currently being analyzed, after which this Prosecutor's Office will determine further procedural actions in this case. The public will be informed in a timely manner once this Prosecutor's Office makes a final prosecutorial decision – the Prosecutor's Office informed NAP.

We remind you that the Prača shelter was opened on March 30, 2012, and its capacity of around 500 places is insufficient to solve the problem of stray dogs, which are increasing every day. Estimates suggest there are around 11,000 dogs on the streets of Sarajevo, and the number of attacks on citizens, whose safety is threatened, is growing.
