Canton Sarajevo Prosecutor's Office opens case after Nikšić's question about illegal wiretapping in FUP

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Canton Sarajevo Prosecutor's Office has opened an ex officio case following a parliamentary question by Nermin Nikšić (SDP BiH) in the Federal Parliament about illegal wiretapping of SDP BiH members by the Federal Police Administration. Spokesperson for the Canton Sarajevo Prosecutor's Office, Azra Bavčić, confirmed that the case has been opened and that the acting prosecutor has sent a request to the FUP for the submission of certain documentation.

Unofficially, as Patria learns, certain individuals have been questioned in the Canton Sarajevo Prosecutor's Office, including FUP employees. Nikšić also gave a statement as a witness earlier.

Nikšić also informed the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) of BiH, the Office of the Disciplinary Prosecutor, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, the Ministry of Interior of the Federation of BiH, the Police Administration of the Federation of BiH, the Ministry of Interior of Canton Sarajevo, the Police Administration of Canton Sarajevo, the Independent Board of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH, and the Independent Board of the Assembly of Canton Sarajevo about the illegal activities being carried out in the FUP.

He asked these institutions whether they are aware that the Director of the Federal Police Administration, Dragan Lukač, formed a special investigative team directly and informally led by police officer Vehbija Numanović, which uses numerous illegalities to secure alleged evidence of criminal acts of persons whose only fault in this specific case is that they belong to the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina or personally know people from the SDP BiH.

- Are you aware that this investigative team, under the direct orders of Dragan Lukač and Vehbija Numanović, completely illegally adds phone numbers of persons from the SDP BiH, as well as persons who have nothing to do with the SDP, in order to wiretap them within the framework of investigations and special investigative actions conducted by the Federal Police Administration, for example, in connection with murder cases committed during the war period or some other cases? Are you aware that the same things are done against police officers who refuse to carry out such illegal orders and verbal instructions, after those same police officers are previously subjected to the strictest disciplinary punishment, demoted, and suffer numerous other forms of mobbing and psychological abuse - asked Nikšić.

Incidentally, the Director of the FUP, Dragan Lukač, has announced that he will resign at the end of this month. At the same time, the Canton Sarajevo Prosecutor's Office is investigating how Lukač, although the Independent Board of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH determined four years ago that he had met the conditions for retirement and should have been retired by force of law, regularly received salaries, thereby obtaining illegal property gain and damaging the budget of the Federation by hundreds of thousands of marks in salary alone. This is without salary supplements and contributions.
