Prosecution investigating corruption related to the allocation of veteran apartments in Vogošća

The Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office is conducting an investigation into the allocation of apartments to the veteran population in the Sarajevo settlement of Vogošća, confirmed for the Patria news agency from multiple sources within the Prosecutor's Office.

A series of omissions were made in the process of purchasing apartments for the veteran population in Vogošća, which harmed veteran families and the public budget.

A commission has also been formed within the Ministry for Veteran Affairs of Sarajevo Canton to re-examine the entire process of apartment allocation, Patria was confirmed by the Ministry.

The entire investigation in this case is focused on the former BPS Minister for Veteran Affairs, Faid Hećo, and as things stand, the party leadership of BPS, led by party president Sefer Halilović and his son Semir, were aware of the malversations surrounding the apartment allocation from the very beginning.

The Ministry for Veteran Affairs of Sarajevo Canton purchased several apartments for demobilized soldiers of the Army of BiH and martyr families in the newly built settlement of Rosulje in Vogošća. Some apartments were also purchased from the private company Murai-Komerc, which reconfigured parts of the former Biokovo hotel in the center of Vogošća for these purposes.

The Prosecutor's investigation currently covers only the part related to the purchase of apartments from the company Murai-Komerc.

Right from the start, a source from the Prosecutor's Office explains, an omission was made – adapted, not new apartments were purchased for the veterans from Murai-Komerc, many of which owners had to renovate urgently afterwards. Other details from this case reveal that the Ministry did not pay the 5% tax on the apartments, thus damaging the public budget by more than 60,000 KM.
