HNK Prosecutor's Office: Detention extended for Muamer Dedić for domestic violence

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - At the proposal of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of HNK Mostar, the Municipal Court in Čapljina issued a Decision to extend the detention for two months for the suspect Muamer Dedić, from Konjic, due to well-founded suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of "Domestic Violence" under the Criminal Code of FBiH.

Muamer Dedić is suspected of verbally abusing his wife E. D. on March 2, this year, around 2:00 PM, in Stolac, in a house owned by J. M., where he lives as a tenant with his wife. He threatened to kill her, and then physically attacked her, hitting her with his hands in the chest and back. Afterwards, he took a kitchen knife and stabbed her in the rib area below her left arm and in the elbow area of her left arm. E.D. bled from these injuries. As he did not allow her to receive medical attention, they got into their car and drove to Konjic, and then returned to Stolac. The injured party then took the opportunity to go to the Konzum store and asked the saleswoman for help, after which she was transported by ambulance to the Stolac Health Center, where she received medical attention, the HNK Prosecutor's Office announced.

The Municipal Court in Čapljina assessed that the extension of detention for the suspect is entirely well-founded and justified, due to special circumstances that justify the fear that he will repeat the criminal offense or commit a criminal offense he threatens to commit.

The Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of HNK Mostar, in cooperation with the Čapljina Police Department and Stolac Police Station, continues to undertake investigative actions in this case in order to establish all the facts and circumstances under which this criminal offense was committed.

The HNK Prosecutor's Office notes that "According to the principle of presumption of innocence from Article 3, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Procedure Code of FBiH, everyone is considered innocent of a criminal offense until their guilt is established by a final court verdict. Therefore, the confirmation of an indictment against a person for a specific criminal offense does not represent their criminal responsibility for committing the act, as the perpetrator's guilt is determined by a final verdict."
