Prosecutor's Office of BiH: No indictment has been filed or confirmed against OSBiH Major Miroslav Baljak for crimes

Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH Goran Salihović signed an act confirming to Miroslav Baljak that this prosecutor's office has not filed or confirmed an indictment against him for war crimes. Baljak submitted this act to the editorial office of the Patria news agency.

 

The name of OS BiH Major Miroslav Baljak, as reported by numerous media outlets, appears on the list of 810 persons suspected of genocide in Srebrenica, compiled by a joint commission of the RS Government, the FBiH Government, and representatives of the international community. Baljak is also the dean of the Faculty of Political Sciences at the European University Kallos in Tuzla. He teaches students legal ethics and human rights.

From the Ministry of Defense of BiH, NAP was told on June 3 that a security check for access to classified information of the CONFIDENTIAL level of secrecy was conducted for Baljak, valid until September 28, 2020.

-During this check, no security obstacles for access to classified information of the stated level of secrecy were identified, nor any indications pointing to the possible involvement of the named individual in the commission of the crime of genocide in Srebrenica.

Also, the named individual submitted a request to initiate the security check process for access to classified information of the SECRET level of secrecy, and on January 27, 2016, it was forwarded to the Intelligence-Security Agency of BiH for further processing. The security check process for access to classified information of the SECRET level of secrecy is still ongoing, said the Ministry of Defense of BiH on June 3.
