Prosecutor's Office of BiH: Large quantity of precious metal products seized

(Patria) - An extensive operation codenamed "Golden Karat" against smuggling and sale of precious metals on the black market is being conducted on the order of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH. State Investigation and Protection Agency – SIPA, Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH, Police of the Ministries of Interior of RS, Federation of BiH and Brčko District of BiH, as well as tax administrations of the entities and Brčko District are participating in the joint operation, it was announced from the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.

- On the order of a prosecutor from the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption, and with orders from the Court of BiH, police agencies are conducting searches of several dozen legal and natural persons in all parts of BiH. The activities are being carried out with the aim of intercepting and preventing the smuggling of goods and products made of precious metals and placing these goods on the illegal market. Several hundred police officers and tax administration inspectors are participating in the activities, and the activities are coordinated by the acting prosecutor. During the operation, a large quantity of precious metal products was seized.

After the searches and arrests, the suspects will be handed over to the acting prosecutor who will make a decision on further actions in the case, it was announced from the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.
