Prosecutor's Office of BiH to Propose Pre-trial Detention for 4 Suspects in Operation Bond

The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina will propose pre-trial detention for four suspects in Operation Bond, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH announced, reports Patria News Agency.

Detention will be requested due to the risk that they might obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence, and influence witnesses or accomplices if they remain at liberty.

After questioning the suspects, the acting prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH will submit a proposal to the Court of BiH for the determination of pre-trial detention for 4 suspects.

The suspects are under investigation for organized crime offenses under Article 250 of the Criminal Code of BiH and illegal trafficking of excise goods under Article 210a of the Criminal Code of BiH, and they are suspected of irregularities related to the trafficking of large quantities of cigarettes, without appropriate excise stamps, thereby causing significant damage to the budget of BiH.

Pre-trial detention will be proposed for the reasons described in Article 132, point b) of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH, i.e., due to the risk that they might obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence, or influence witnesses or accomplices if they remain at liberty.

The investigation in the case is continuing with the aim of filing an indictment against the suspects.
