Prosecutor's Office of BiH seeks pre-trial detention for two Poles for human smuggling

(Patria) - The duty prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH has submitted a proposal to the Court of BiH for the determination of pre-trial detention for suspects Murawski Klaudiusz Roman, born in 2002 in Glogow, Poland, a citizen of Poland, and Murawski Michal Jan, born in 1982 in Glogow, Poland, a citizen of Poland.

Pre-trial detention has been proposed for the reasons described in Article 132, Paragraph 1, points a) and b) of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH, namely due to the risk of the suspects absconding, who would become unavailable to judicial bodies by leaving BiH, and the risk that they might obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence, or influence witnesses or accomplices while at liberty.

The suspects are under investigation by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and are suspected of smuggling 20 migrants of Afro-Asian origin in a Mercedes truck with Polish license plates on January 11th of this year. The smugglers and the smuggled persons were discovered at the Gabela border crossing during a border check by the BiH Border Police, after which they were deprived of their liberty. The found illegal migrants were handed over to members of the BiH Service for Foreigners' Affairs for further processing.

They are suspected of committing the criminal offense of human smuggling from Article 189, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of BiH. The Prosecutor's Office of BiH and the Border Police, together with partner agencies, are permanently undertaking activities to prevent illegal migrations and prosecute criminal offenses related to illegal migrations in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
