Prosecution requests extension of detention for Lijanović and others

The BiH Prosecutor's Office has submitted a proposal to extend detention in the case codenamed "Meso", requesting an extension of detention for 60 days for the suspects: Ivanković-Lijanović Jerko, Ivanković-Lijanović Slavo, Ivanković-Lijanović Jozo, Bahilj Milorad, and Galić Mirko, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

The extension of detention, among other things, has been requested due to the risk of the suspects fleeing, and the risk that they might obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence, and influence witnesses or accomplices if they remain at liberty.

A hearing to consider the Prosecutor's Office's proposal is expected tomorrow.

We remind you that in an operation by the BiH Prosecutor's Office, SIPA, and the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH on September 10, the Ivanković Lijanović brothers, the Federal Minister of Trade Milorad Bahilj were arrested due to tax evasions exceeding 11 million KM, committed through the establishment and subsequent fictitious closure of companies, leaving behind large tax debts. The companies were involved in the import, production, and processing of meat and meat products.
