Prosecutor's Office of BiH requests custody for Roguljić and Lubura

(Patria) - After questioning the suspects in the presence of their lawyers, the acting prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH submitted a request to the Court of BiH for the detention of two suspects who were apprehended in yesterday's operation by the RS Ministry of Internal Affairs in the area of Banja Luka.

The prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH filed a request for the detention of suspects Bojan Roguljić, born in 1981 in Banja Luka, a citizen of BiH and the Republic of Serbia, and Nedeljko Lubura, born in 1975, a citizen of BiH, a police officer, head of the Professional Standards Unit in the Service for Protection of Integrity and Legality of Work within the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republika Srpska.

Custody has been requested due to the risk of the suspects absconding, the risk that they might obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence, and influence witnesses or accomplices if released, as well as the risk of re-offending or completing the attempted crime.

The individuals under investigation in this case are suspected of organized crime in connection with the criminal offenses of human trafficking, aiding a perpetrator after the commission of a criminal offense, and abuse of official position or authority under the Criminal Code of BiH.

As part of the investigative and operational activities, information and evidence were collected indicating that the suspects had organized themselves to smuggle a person of security interest, wanted under international arrest warrants for serious organized crime offenses in the region, including murder. The said person was smuggled from the EU into BiH, after which the suspects continued to assist in their concealment.

The request for detention has been submitted to the Court of BiH, and the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, together with partner police institutions, continues the investigation with the aim of fully shedding light on and documenting the illegal activities of the suspects and the commission of criminal offenses in this case.
