Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina seeks detention and prohibition measures in cases Transporter and Storage

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has filed a motion for detention for suspects Srđan Rađević and Davorin Popović. The detention measure was requested due to the risk of flight of the suspects, the risk that if released they could obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence and influence witnesses or accomplices, as well as repeat the criminal offense or complete the initiated one, the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.

Regarding suspects Robert Radonić, an officer of the OSA, and Miloš Lukajić, a police officer employed by the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the acting prosecutor proposed the imposition of prohibition measures, namely measures prohibiting leaving the place of residence, visiting certain places or areas, and meeting with certain persons.

Additionally, for suspect Lukajić, a measure prohibiting the performance of official duties was proposed.

The suspects are charged with committing criminal acts of organized crime, in connection with the criminal offense of unauthorized trafficking in narcotic drugs, illegal trade in excise products in connection with the criminal offense of smuggling.

Suspect Radonić is also charged with committing the criminal offense of violation of the confidentiality of proceedings and disclosure of secret data, and suspect Lukajić with the criminal offense of receiving gifts and other forms of benefit and the criminal offense of violation of the confidentiality of proceedings.

The gravity of the committed criminal acts is underscored by elements of high-level corruption and abuse of the capacities and resources of important state law enforcement institutions for the purpose of obtaining illegal property gain.

Within the investigative activities, information and evidence have been collected that the suspects, as members of an organized criminal group, have for a long time committed criminal acts of organized crime related to smuggling and unauthorized trafficking of large quantities of narcotic drugs, as well as smuggling of narcotic drugs from neighboring countries for further resale in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and further distribution to the illegal drug market of European Union countries, thereby acquiring illegal property gain, as well as persons who, using their official position, assisted the suspects in not being discovered by prosecution authorities by disclosing secret data.

The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with partner police institutions, continues the investigation with the aim of fully clarifying and documenting the illegal activities of the suspects and the commission of criminal acts in this case.

The motion for detention has been submitted to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where a hearing on the prosecutor's motion is expected to be scheduled.
