Prosecutor's Office of BiH says pressures continue with falsehoods: We are not investigating General Ante Gotovina

Regarding the reporting of certain media and journalists' inquiries, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH issued a press release, which the news agency Patria transmits in full.

-In the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, in 2016, no complaint or case from the Hague Tribunal was received, relating to war crimes in which Ante Gotovina was a suspect.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH has no open investigation against Ante Gotovina, nor is he in the status of a suspect. There is a case that is in the reporting phase and relates to several persons and was formed based on a report from the RS Ministry of Interior, from 2006.

The dissemination of falsehoods represents just one in a series of intense political pressures under which the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and the Chief Prosecutor have been in the last two months and confirms a deliberate campaign aimed at destabilizing the institution of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, as well as relations within BiH, and relations in the neighborhood (Serbia and Croatia), which we have been continuously warning about recently, all for the purpose of the pre-election campaign and other hidden goals.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH will continue to build good neighborly relations with the prosecutor's offices of Serbia and Croatia and will not allow anyone to disrupt those relations by spreading falsehoods, they state from the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH received documentation from the Hague Tribunal about Croatian General Ante Gotovina and another Croatian officer, who were charged with war crimes in the Livno region, writes "Večernje novosti".

It is allegedly about new evidence, which The Hague forwarded to the War Crimes Department of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH. A source from "Večernje" claims that extensive written documentation and several hours of recorded conversation arrived and that a prosecutor has already been assigned to handle the case regarding Gotovina and his comrade.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH must decide whether to file an indictment or not. "Novosti" was told by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH that they cannot give any comment on this topic. Gotovina was acquitted in the Hague Tribunal at the end of 2012 on almost all counts of the indictment for crimes in "Operation Storm", after the Appeals Chamber overturned the first-instance verdict, by which he was sentenced to 24 years in prison
